Greenburgh Displays 15-year-old Edgemont Student’s First Solo Exhibit

Greenburgh’s Arts and Culture Committee will present a multimedia exhibit by 15-year-old Juliana Lemin in the Student’s Gallery at Greenburgh Town Hall from November 2nd, 2023 until January 5th, 2024. Juliana is a 10th grade student at Edgemont High School. Her paintings and drawings have received several awards and been frequently published in magazines. This is her first solo exhibit. The public is invited to a meet-the-artist-reception at Greenburgh Town Hall on Saturday, November 4th from noon until three pm.

Juliana and her family moved from New Jersey to Greenburgh when she was 18 months old. As a toddler, she would use both hands at the same time to fill in the lines of coloring books! Her enthusiasm to combine colors inspired her journey as a young artist. She took her first art lessons when a family friend, a professional artist, stayed with her family for a month in 2013.

Since her early years, Juliana has expressed her creativity in art. Her family has supported her interest by taking her to museums and art galleries in the US and abroad. Juliana joined The Rad Art Studio in Hartsdale when she was seven and later started taking art lessons with Leonid Shoshensky, a professional artist.

Juliana uses various media, including chalk pastel, oil-on-canvas, watercolors, and graphite pencil, to express her creativity. In the last few years, her works have appeared numerous times in Celebrating Art, a publication that showcases student art. She also regularly participates in various art contests for adults and children. In February 2023, she participated in NY Congressman Jamaal Bowman’s Congressional Art Competition at Purchase College. Juliana won a Silver Key award in Scholastic Art Competition in 2022. She also has received several honorary mentions in other art competitions. In 2020 Juliana took part in a group exhibition entitled My Space at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich CT.

Art galleries at Greenburgh Town Hall, 177 Hillside Avenue are open to the public from 9 am until 5 pm Mondays thru Fridays, except for holidays.
